Private customers International Motor Insurance Card Important information on the International Motor Insurance Card (formerly known as the “Green Card”)
The International Motor Insurance Card, formerly known as the “Green Card”, serves as evidence when you enter a foreign country that the vehicle specified on the card has sufficient liability insurance cover. There is no insurance cover in those countries whose abbreviations are struck through on the card.

White paper and PDF

Since 1 July 2020, it has been possible to print out the International Motor Insurance Card on white as well as green paper. We therefore provide our policyholders with the International Motor Insurance Card on white paper. As of 1 January 2025, the International Motor Insurance Card can also be issued as a PDF file and presented on electronic devices.

You can also find the International Motor Insurance Card in your account on the myBaloise customer portal and download the document as a PDF file yourself at any time. As of 1 January 2025, you can present the insurance card as a PDF file on the screen of any mobile device.

Please note the following requirements when printing out the insurance card to ensure the document is valid:

  • Paper format at least A6, no bigger than A4. 
  • Paper colour white or green with black writing. Other colours are prohibited and render the document invalid!
  • Flawless printout, i.e. if the document features stripes or other printing flaws, you must print it out again.
  • The reverse side of the document must be completely empty with no text on it.
